| Warrior Work Week 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Principle 4: Know the ways of all professions. Networking is a great way to apply this principle and develop some good interdependent projects. Two of the best networking groups in the world are Rotary and Toastmasters. If these aren't available or don't suit your goals then get involved in some service projects that utilize the talents of a variety of professionals to achieve it's goals. Learn about the various worlds of these professions and let that knowledge enrich your life and perhaps even inspire you to move into new fields. In the study of aging, researchers are saying that there are people alive today that will live to 150. A woman recently died who made it to 122. Born in France in 1875, she was strong willed and had a good sense of humor. She saw the Eiffel tower being built and saw many things come and go throughout her life. By becoming aware of different professions and integrating the skills that make one successful as a human being, you can move between worlds and professions. It is becoming more and more common to start new ventures or jobs even in one's 60's or 70's. Fostering your vitality, energy and spirit is essential as you grow older - the number of elderly over 65 will be ¼ of our population by 2010. Let's not promote a nation of nursing homes with fallen warriors trapped inside their bodies. Let us become a nation and world of wise elders who remain powerful and fluid role models for the young to follow. By Peter Hill, Copyright 2004 www.getittogether.net Week 5 >> |
